Operating Policy

Those of us supporting the Outbound Index are committed to the following:

  • Uncompromising ethical standards:
    • No "Pay to Spam" aspects to business model
    • Place high priority on keeping Outbound Index members accurately and fully informed
    • Stable values and processes, consistently adhered to
    • Turn down investment or business partnerships which leave open the possibility that the best interests of the Outbound Index community will be subverted

  • An irreversible reduction in unauthorized email.

  • Elimination of forged-return-address spams and viruses for domains listed in the Outbound Index, at the inbound servers who query the Index.

  • Ongoing community involvement; we welcome ideas for new functions related to improving the Outbound Index.

  • A sustainable operating model.

  • Robust security and redundancy.

  • With community participation, the elimination of spam as a threat to productivity.

Privacy Policy

We don't require your email address in order for you to list your authorized domains and servers in the Outbound Index. In fact, we make as little use of email as we possibly can.

If you choose to give us your email address, we will use it only for the purpose you request at the time of giving your address, such as notifying you when your domain name is forged, or when someone makes changes to your Outbound Index listings. Providing your email address is entirely optional. We will not rent, sell, share, give away, or otherwise pass along any contact information or email information you have given us, in any way whatsoever.

We don't currently plan to sell our company (Server Authority, Inc., the organization behind the Outbound Index) to any other company. However, because we believe a Privacy Policy doesn't have "teeth" if it doesn't address this issue, here's where we stand: If we ever sell our company to another company, and they do not bind themselves irrevocably to our email policy (not using your email except for the express purpose you requested when giving the address), our bylaws require us to destroy all members' email addresses, so they will not be passed along to the purchasing company.

The information contained in the Outbound Index is the responsibility of the owners of the servers and domains (or their authorized agents) who place the information in the Outbound Index. Server Authority, Inc. is not and cannot be held responsible for the content of the Outbound Index. However, Server Authority, Inc. is responsible for maintaining and improving the Outbound Index infrastructure.
